VYT VISTAs Erika, Heather, Marissa, and Benji celebrate their End of Service at the November Training in Montpelier.
AmeriCorps*VISTA members at the City of Montpelier Planning and Community Development Department, Erin Schlitts and Kristin Feierabend attended the Earth Charter+10 Conference at the Peace Palace in The Hague, The Netherelands to share how they have used the Earth Charter in city planning.
The Conference was a ten year anniversary celebration of the Earth Charter, which is a document of shared ethical principles that was drafted by people from around the world and reflects a vision for sustainable development that is rooted in respect for the entire community of life.
Erin and Kristin have used the Charter to guide their work in the participatory city planning process known as enVision Montpelier and therefore attended the Conference to provide an example of how the Charter can be used in city planning.
